Homeschooling & Summer Programs

Fossil, Stone & Bones Academy is the educational division of the Museum on the Peninsula. The Academy's mission statement is to provide a challenging and supportive learning environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, that embraces diversity, fosters empathy, and prepares students for success, weather is for college, career, or life.

The Academy's program of studies is focused on paleontology and fossil education. The program aims to create an educational culture that promotes academic excellence, individualized support, and enrichment opportunities now and for the next level of higher learning.​ It seeks to motivate students to learn by providing an authentic context for participating in science activities.

Dino Camp
Summer Program ONLY - Located in Soldotna, AK
Class Sizes will be limited to 5 students, so sign-up NOW!

DINO Camp offers a week-long, on-site program focused on dinosaurs, where kids can participate in activities like fossil studies, geological digs, learning about paleontology, creating dino-themed art, and much more!

DINO Camp focuses on hands-on learning experiences that immerse children in the world of dinosaurs through interactive activities, games, and STEAM-based learning. These camps incorporate real fossils, animal interactions, and explorations of reptiles and their ancestors.

Class Dates - June 1st - 5th  /   June 8th - 12th

 July 6th - 10th  /   July 13th - 17th

Aug 3rd - 7th

Class will be Mon-Fri 8am to 4pm

$650 per student (Dino Camp is registered with IDEA & Connections)

Intro to Paleontology

Intro to Paleontology will focus on the study of prehistoric life on Earth, primarily through the examination of fossils. It involves analyzing fossilized remains and traces of ancient organisms to understand their biology, evolution, and interactions with the environment. Paleontology is a multidisciplinary field, drawing on both geological and biological sciences, AND IT'S A LOT OF FUN!

Intro to Geology

Introduction to Geology will provide a comprehensive overview of the Earth's structure, processes, and history. It covers topics like plate tectonicsrock and mineral formationgeologic timeweathering and erosion, and the study of various landforms. It includes both theoretical concepts and practical applications, such as understanding natural resources and the impact of geological processes on human life.
